Reading Share Morning

Today we invited parents and grandparents to our Reading Share Morning.
Mrs Sullivan explained to the parents some ways that we teach reading at Bressingham School and then the grown-ups joined the children to play and take part in some reading activities. Hopefully, there were some that they would like to try again at home to help their child to read. Here are some of the activities.

We sang nursery rhymes using a songbook and a bag of clues for songs and rhymes.

We played bingo using the graphemes and phonemes we have learned.

We made silly soup using ingredients that rhymed.

We made pointers that looked like wands to help us point to words in our books.

We used puppets to help us retell the story of Room on the Broom.

We read and followed instructions to make playdough and apple aliens.

We practised reading common words and common exception words on bricks.

We read words and did what the word said: jump, sit, clap, run, tiptoe ......

We read words on coins that we dug up in the sandpit and decided if they were real or fake words: treasure or rubbish!

We used our imaginations in our potions shed to make lots of magical potions.

Here are some photos of us doing the activities:
